I also hate people who say we should bring Whitey Herzog back. Please.......he's an old geezer. Besides, I doubt he'd be interested.

I finally got the Cody McKay joke - why was he pitching?

Because LaRussa didn't want to use up our bullpen, and McKay pitched in college.

My book says Herzog was almost as good as Weaver, and that's saying something.
Of course, for geezer pride, you have to go with Don "Got A Plate in my Head, but I can still Deck Ya" Zimmer.

Hey, it's been a while since Cesar Tovar and Bert Campaneris played all nine positions in one game...is McKay up to it?

I saw that. It was great... One game, the pitcher techincally got 3 outs with 4 strikeouts in the inning. That was pretty funny.
What's with McGwire? He's doing a Hardees ad for the Thick Burger, but he's Big Mac. It would just be logical to go for McDonalds.

The Rafael Furcal unassisted triple play was against the Cardinals, hm? It's weird, there were no unassisted triple plays for more than forty years (1927-1968) and then there was one, and another huge gap (1968-1992) before the next one - and then all of a sudden everyone's doing it...1992, 1994, 2000, 2003... Same deal with perfect games, only a bit less extreme wait times. I wonder if Hardee's wanted to play up the nickname but weren't able to because of copyright? Actually, didn't McGwire and McDonald's have a deal back when he played for the Cards - I remember something about a place in left field at Busch Stadium being the Big Mac zone and McDonald's having a bunch of logos out there...

I don't know if it's still there, but here's how it worked. "Big Mac Land" is a section of seats along the rim of the upper deck in left-center field. If any Cardionals player hit a homerun into that section of the seats, you could turn in your ticket stub at a McDonald's restaurant for a free BigMac. It hasn't happened much, though.

Big Mac land was fun... I wonder if they still do that free BigMac thing.
I don't remember who that triple play was against either but I remember it being pretty cool. I bet this year a Cardinal will do it...

If you've ever met me, you would know that I'm generally not that optimistic. Right now, I'm only optimistic about the Cardinals. Other than that, I'm pretty much pessimistic about everything. People who know me really well like my cousins are actually telling me to be more optimistic.

I am always pessimistic, ESPECIALLY when it comes to sports teams.

Sports teams tend to give people false hope and optimism. Well, at least we don't live in Detroit. Their hope is just foolish.
