Baseball just had a wonderful start depite the opening in Japan as the Yankees lost. Even better, they Yankees lost the the worst team in baseball, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. How pathetic. It just shows that monkey can't buy everything.
Does anyone have any predictions for the upcoming season?
Cardinals for the Wolrd Series!!!

Who do you think will go to the World Series?

The Yankees (as usual), and the Astros.
The Cards don't have a shot (as usual), because they don't have any good pitching (as usual).

Astros? That's a surprise, most people say Cubs.
The Cardinals might have a shot... They might have improved pitching... Maybe... I can hope as a Cardinals fan

The Cardinals will not go anywhere with LaRussa running the team. Besides, the Astros have 4 of the best starters in the league.

Well the Cubs have good pitching too. The Cardinals have the best lineup though.

I'd like to say this is the Expos' year. But we all know that isn't true. Apparently our squeaky clean new first baseman, Nick Johnson, formerly of the hated Yankees, is hurt and won't play for a bit. And the acquisition of Tony Batista for third base will probably continue the Expos' recent tradition of signing big-power-but-can't-hit-the-damn-ball third basemen.
The Jays may win a lot of games this year. Halliday's a first class pitcher, and if Delgado and Wells remain healthy the Jays will be offensively strong. Plus, I think Eric Hinske just had a bad year last year, and folks like Reed Johnson and Josh Phelps are waiting for their breakout seasons, I think.
My other favourite team (oh, I forgot, I'm among Americans now, I can go back to spelling that "favorite") is the Baltimore Orioles, who are as usual spending oodles of money on big money players in the middle of their careers who don't have much time left on the clock. Argh - why do they do that?! Now it's Javy Lopez and Miguel Tejada. Are they going to be the Bobby Bonillas of the turn of the millennium?
This is fun - Canadians don't talk much baseball. ;D

Roy Halladay is pretty good. He's my best pitcher on my fantasy baseball team. Don't diss Lopez, he's on my team too.
Expos... that's funny. Some teams are just embarassments. They just repeatedly do stupid things. Like the Cardinals (Sadly, I'm a devouted fan), they just won't get new pitching. It's crazy. They get Ray Lankford but no pitching. Lankford... He's not going to get any better. It's so mest up. He will be a bad side in the lineup.
Sometimes, some teams drive me crazy. Absolutely nuts. Ahhh...
Hey wait, are you Canadian? Or British? When I was a kid, I had this strange British accent and I spelled everything like the Brits did. I was so mest up. Well I still am.

I'm American - after 7 years in Canada, though, I've been starting to spell things like the locals up here, and say "zed" instead of "zee" for the last letter of the alphabet, and "leftenant" instead of "lootenant" and so on.
I think the Expos do pretty well for the sad amount of money they have to do it with. That Frank Robinson could get the 'Spos to have a winning record last year with the wimpiest payroll in the majors ranks with turning water into wine.
It's hard to "diss Lopez" after yesterday's performance at Camden Yards - he looked like whoever traded for him made a pretty good deal. But the O's are _always_ trading for established stars who will burn out in a few years, and sometimes it doesn't even take them a few years, as was the case with Albert Belle. Anyway, it is nice to see Lopez is working out so far, and I like having Rafael Palmeiro back in Baltimore, too. Who knows, maybe even Miguel "From Hot" Tejada will work out.
