The Republic of Anthelia conveys its greetings and regards to the Sovereign Natopian Empire
It is with regret that the Republic can no longer ignore the current war, active between a number of micronations with the theatre of operations in Riponia riponia.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=29
The policy of the Republic, as always, is peaceful co-existence with other micronations and the fostering of productive and co-operative foreign relations. The Republic is proud of the Novasolum movement and the multilateral ties which have grown from our regional association and the Novasolum Treaty.
The same pride cannot be expressed in respect of nations outside the Novasolum region, not one of which has been able to maintain diplomatic, economic nor social contact. In particular, we believe the Kingdom of Lovely has acquitted itself very poorly in our sector of micronationalism - that a nation with such enormous resources of manpower can be so dominated by a few personalities and cannot exercise proper diplomatic discourse is a matter of concern.
Further, the Republic expresses no pride or satisfaction in the indiscriminate treaty-making which goes on in micronationalism. That so many micronations have been drawn into the Woodstanian conflict is testimony not to their honour as allies to defend their friends, but rather it is testimony to the poorly considered network of agreements and treaties littering the micronational world. The alliance system of 1914, which drew all of Europe into war, was nothing by comparison.
As an example, consider the Fleur-de-Lis-Longships Treaty between Alexandria and Stormark, a treaty which like many others contains only a preamble and no content, nevertheless these nations would consider themselves bound by the following -
Since Matbaa commenced belligerent action against Woodstania, numerous micronations have been drawn in by their "treaty obligations" and Alexandria's involvement has been based on their obligation to Stormark; however, it remains an open question (which may never be answered) as to whether Alexandria was required to act at all.
And now, Alexandria has called on its partners in the Novasolum Treaty to come to its assistance, as the Kingdom of Lovely has declared war upon it after Alexandria came into the Circum-Raynor War on the non-Lovely side.
The Republic of Anthelia rejects any suggestion that the Novasolum Treaty requires us to aid Alexandria in an overseas campaign into which it has entered of its own free will. We cite the Novasolum Treaty as follows -
The Republic asserts that the Empire of the Alexandrians has become subject to aggression by others through its own belligerent action taken for reasons that do not include self-defence.
The Republic further asserts that the Sovereign Natopian Empire has judged falsely its obligation to join with Alexandria in the Circum-Raynor War. There is no Novasolum Treaty Organisation, as asserted in your recent Declaration of War, and the Empire of the Alexandrians is not under threat of aggression requiring its defence, but rather it has attracted a threat of aggression by virtue of its wilful involvement in the warfare of others.
The Republic further asserts that we have no obligations towards any party involved in the Circum-Raynor War.
It is the firm desire of the Republic that all micronations involved in the war who have no territorial stake in the outcome should withdraw, and allow the world to settle down to something closer to good sense. Naturally, it is also the desire of the Republic that all micronations claiming possession of ships of war, large forces of men under arms, squadrons of aircraft and huge arsenals of missiles and other weapons, should remain distinct from those of us who prefer a more realistic approach.
The Republic asks that the Sovereign Natopian Empire reconsider its involvement in the Circum-Raynor War, and withdraw completely. The Republic further asks that the Empire join with us to exercise influence on the Empire of the Alexandrians to withdraw from the war and return to peaceful engagement with worthy micronations.

BELIEVING that should one nation be attacked, or any brother of our nations be unduly persecuted, both nations agree that an armed attack or threat against one of them shall be considered an attack or threat against both and consequently they agree that, if such an armed attack or threat occurs, each of them, in exercise of the right of individual or collective self-defense will assist the nation so attacked of threatened by taking forthwith, such actions it deems necessary, including the use of force, to restore and maintain the security of the nations;

5. Any time a third nation commits an act of agression against one of the High Contracting Parties or threatens to do so, the High Contracting Parties shall inform and consult one another in order to ensure that their influence is exerted as effectively as possible by means of concerted and convergent action. For this purpose they may adopt common positions. Common positions shall define the approach of the High Contracting Parties to a particular situation. The High Contracting Parties shall ensure that their national policies conform to the common positions. No consideration of whatever nature, whether political, economic, military or otherwise, except for every sovereign nation’s right to self-defence, shall be accepted as a justification for aggression and no territorial acquisition or special advantage resulting from aggression is or shall be recognized as lawful.
