My Natopian Friends,
I have been keeping a close eye on the recent motion in the Senate to remove your current Grand Judge from office. I have not posted this in that Thread out of respect for you and your legal process; seeing as how I am not a Senator. But I would like to make a comment here - please forgive me if this insults or upsets anyone.
I have read the various reasons for people to be posting or not, and for checking the boards or not. First, I honestly don't feel that it's a such a big committment to ask that those involved in Government post once in a while - or to check the boards once in a while (let's say once a week, a law we have in Gotzborg). I timed myself - with the recent increase in activity in my nation, and the other places I check in on; here were my results (this is for checking, not posting):
I checked in on the following nations Forums: Gotzborg, Pendronia, Stormark, Hanover, Velsen, USSR, Novaya Zemlya, Minorca, Ascalon, Attera, Babkha, Cyberia, Coralia, the MNN Forum, and Natopia. It took me from 5:20pm until 5:48pm - so about half an hour - to check what...16 Forums. Just to look in on Natopia, it took me about three minutes. I usually hit the "Last Ten Posts" button twice a day - it takes just a couple short minutes, I read all the posts regardless of location, and doing it twice a day, I never miss anything.
Now, I don't see that asking someone for; let's call it ten minutes to include posting a reply; ten minutes out of their day once or twice a week as a big deal. I know that people get busy. School and all, right? Well, I am not going to say "I am busier than you" - because that's all relative. What one person can handle isn't the same as what another person can handle. But for argument's sake; here you go...some points about how busy I am, and how I can still find time to post, and check boards (because I find it important to do so).
1) I am both the Royal Chancellor, and Foreign Minister in Gotzborg.
2) I have a dozen Treaty Nations to check in on daily, to ensure that I'm not being asked to do anything.
3) I am the Lead in an Inter-Micronational Organisation, and am required to post there, validate email addys for new members, help other Member Nations with various projects, and so on.
4) I am married and have a 2 year old daughter, who obviously demand a good amount of attention.
5) I have bone cancer, which aside from being dreadfully painful, prevents me from being able to sit up at the computer for longer than a couple hours at once; before I am forced to lay down for four more hours to recover. (I admit to using my laptop while laying down if I feel like doing more work lol)
6) Up until last month (October), I was a Law Professor at a University in Missouri. After resigning from my position due to the restrictions of my cancer, I began work on my PhD in International Law. Trust me, people - a PhD in anything isn't easy - and Law is certainly no exception.
7) Instructor of the King Charles II School of Law in Gotzborg.
8) Co-Founder of the Aremberg-Velsen Conference.
Now, despite everything listed above, I have been highly active in my own nation, and moderately active in nations to which I am only a friend, not a citizen (like Natopia). I have been more active over the past 6 weeks than your current Grand Judge, and I am not even a citizen, and certainly not in such an important position.
I'm sorry about this last point, and it's potential for sounding like an insult - but I've noticed something. For someone who said they cannot get on the Forums or post, etc, the Grand Judge has certainly been active this past week; since hearing about the possibility of losing her job. That proves to me that she IS able - but not willing.
Anyway - just the words of a non-citizen, sometimes visitor to Natopia. Take it for what it is, an opinion. Like everyone, it's only worth as much as you want it to be.
