I just got my voter registration card today... and it got me thinking about citizenship and how i take it for granted... i think we should start up some sort of citizenship test... like real countries do... for immigrants.
an immigrant would come in, and apply for resident status... that means they will be under our laws and protection.. but they cant vote or hold office. then they take a simple test on Natopian history and government structure, and get full citizenship.
all current citizens will be grandfathered in, of course.
and maybe, just as in macros, if Natopia is your first/only citizenship you get it automatically (like you are being "born" in Natopia...kinda... get it?)

Ok, as long as I don't have to take the test. What would the test be about? History and laws?

will there be any exceptions? for example immigrants with resident status serving in the natopian defence forces who get wounded, a natopian version of the "french through spilt blood" rule where a foreign legionaire is offered french citizenship if wounded in action. or if a foreign national has distinguished him/herself through a great service of some sort to natopia.
anyway im back, sorry i havnt been around for a while i was working abroad for a few weeks

yes, citizenship can certainly be awared as a sort of "award"... good idea. and welcome back! tho i cant see how a person could get injured in a recwar btw, are you still interested in that defense ministry post? our military (except for our navy, which we just bought from Gotzborg, and our spacefleet) is in total disarray. But you seem to have an interest in military dealings... You would be a great asset to our military.

very true, although i suppose u could fall off ur chair while on recwar lol i'll gladly take on the minister of defence position but im afraid i cant garuntee i'll be around due to work. so tell me now if that'll cause problems. also i'm not familliar with recwar, so a bit of info on that would be appreciated lol one more thing, as minister of defence would i be able to suggest a military honours system, i.e medals and ribbons etc, ive had a look around the forums and cant find anything about it. military matters are my specialty lol in case u hadnt guessed
