Húy!
Nate, you're a citizen of Lavalon, so this needs to be brought to your attention: Lavalon is unable to recieve new and existing citizens into its web presence because its Web Presence is non-functional. Because the "new" forums don't work at all for new members (and the poll features and a bunch of other stuff just puts up error messages), and the new Lavalon Blog is inadequate, we must begin to hold at fault the President, since that is his authority.
Now since the President has the responsibility of ensuring that Lavalon's web presence is sufficient, and because the nature of an internet-based nation requires that it be internet-based (believe it or not), I wonder what your opinion would be if I said we need to remove the President from his Office.
This is not to say that President Klaas won't remain a citizen, or that he won't ever be President again. In fact, I hope he would. But for the time being (which is important because Lavalon could easily go dead right now),
we need someone who can guide our Web Presence.
Recalling the President is a solution to the management problem. The President has not acknowledged pending legislation for a week, while continuing to visit the IA. Its as if the IA is now the main priority of the President. The President is the "leader" of at least three micro-nations, and so I wonder if this has anything to do with the lack of Lavalon interest as of late.
But if the President were recalled, the Vice-President would become President. The Vice-President, also the Minister of Technology, is part of the problem regarding Lavalon's web site problems. Pardraic Nevin, VP, designed the web-site that is currently NOT working. This is ok, because in the real world Nevin has "studies". Thats all well in good, but Lavalon might not make it another month without serious resuscitation.
I believe there are two possible routes that the General Assembly can pursue:
1. Contact VP Nevin via E-Mail to see if he would give up his Presidency to a nation-wide-referendum-elected candidate, if Mr. Klaas were to be removed from power.
2. Pass a Constitutional Amendment in the General Assembly, which does not require the President's approval, that radically changes the powers of the Executive Branch. This is my preferred route because it doesn't damage any citizens' reputations.
Opinion anyone?
