Commonwealth of Eucalytpia: A Grand Sovereignty Proposal
There is no question that Lavalon is where most of the citizens of Natopia hang out. Natopia has become eclipsed by Lavalon. The SSNG, while mostly off-line, does not have an appropriate level of influence in Lavalon. Neither does Natopia. Their citizens can form "voting blocs" or parties, but there is no actual politically unifying force. We are still separate nations, with Lavalon'a Executive, Judicial, and Legislative branches being run by and exerting authority over the citizens of those foreign nations.
Lavalon is the new Natopia, but in name. The mantle of Natopia has passed on to Lavalon, just as the British Empire to the United States after World War II. The change occurred due to mass immigration of Natopians to Lavalon and appointment of foreigners into positions of stature by the original Lavalonians.
Lavalon is now a totally foreigner-oriented body. The Chowdhury-Klaas-Shepard voting bloc exists and is very powerful. They will probably win the next presidency, and I very well may help them in doing so by voting for their candidate, Tasneem.
The best thing, it would seem, would be for the SSNG and Natopia to close shop officially and disintegrate. However that would not be a good thing. Rather, we need to transfer our sovereignty to a new body, to be instituted by the Commonwealth of Eucalyptia: the Grand Council. The Grand Council would be composed of three very influential nations: Lavalon, SSNG, and Natopia. Its members would be the government leaders of each member nation. The body would become the new Supreme Court, Secretariat, and Secretary-General of the Commonwealth. It would be a triumvirate. And it would be granted many powers.
Instead of each member nation having a separate Executive branch, the Grand Council would assume the role of President of all three nations, separating out regionally with each member nation leader heading his or her own sub-department of a vast Commonwealth Executive Branch. The same could occur of the legislative bodies of each nation. They could be dissolved, and then a Commonwealth Senate could be created to pass acts relating to one, two, or all three member nations. The courts would likely remain separate.
What this would lead towards is a super-federal government overseeing relatively weak national governments of Lavalon, SSNG, and Natopia. Those nations would have governments more equivalent to administrative districts, rather than separately-sovereign entities. Indeed, the triumvirate would appoint legions of ambassadors to the micro-national world in the name of a single, united Eucalyptia.
Lavalon, SSNG, and Natopia would remain culturally separate. They would retain separate identities in that respect. They would have their own cultural organs, and they would retain the right to grant or not grant citizenship. They would have the right to remove themselves from the Commonwealth.
My proposal is for a "Grand Sovereignty", a new kind of super-government that would formalize what has already occurred in Lavalon, while giving other nations equal power with Lavalon. Eucalyptia would be like Talossa or Babkha or Hanover. Eucalyptia could become an internet fad and get an article in WIRED.
The task ahead is not to rush things into action. The task is to plan things carefully, and then turn our nations into giants.
