Salvation is one of the other most important discussions of religion.
Salvation in the Christian view is a gift from God, how it is received and other details of salvation are a subject of debate within Christian communities.
The Protestant Christians believe in sola fide or faith alone, we are saved by faith alone. This is the view that I hold to. I believe that we receive salvation in baptism and it is confirmed later by faith.
The Catholic Christians believe that we are saved by faith and works, but I do not know very much about the Catholic idea of salvation so I cannot speak here.
i think i recall someone at my congregation saying my church traditionally beleives in the "faith and works" thing. i personally, however, believe that faith saves, and then thru faith, the Spirit moves you to do works.

Somewhere in the bible it says there cannot be faith without works. I do not know which verse it is , but it is obviously in the New Testament. It is not works that makes someone saved or not. If you are saved, you will be doing works. If you aren't doing God's will then you are not saved. This would seem to require Christians to at least do some of the ritualistic aspects of Christianity to be sure of their salvation.
