Emperor Nathan,
I address you as the President and Foreign Minister of my nation, your neighbour and Novasolum Treaty partner, the Republic of Anthelia.
I wish to express the deep concern of my government at the attitudes and pronouncements of the Sovereign Natopian Empire, specifically with regard to the Treaty of BBC.
As you know, the Treaty of BBC was signed by your nation, by the Republic of Anthelia, by a number of other micronations of our sector, and by the micronation founded by King Danny Wallace which later became known as the Kingdom of Lovely. It provided for mutual recognition and for interdependency in defence against aggression.
Natopia has professed treaty and friendship as its basis for action in the current recwarring conflict. However, there is a higher principle which must be observed here, and that is the rule of law and respect for institutions, however simulated they may be. Our micronations approached King Danny to obtain the Treaty of BBC in an effort to both promote and legitimise our places in the world. Are we free, either morally or legally, to simply cast that aside at whim?
Statements such as I have read today, expressing outright disdain and rejection of the Treaty of BBC, reflect poorly on your micronation.
I do not reject the purpose nor the place of recwarring as a part of micronational activity. I say this even though it is not the policy or intention of Anthelia to participate in any recwar. What I am saying is that a micronation which expects its sovereignty and institutions to be respected and recognised should take great care to act in accordance with the treaties, accords and agreements in to which it has entered.
A salient lesson might be to avoid treaty-making except as the culmination of careful negotiation, professional diplomacy and well-founded trust.
The Republic of Anthelia will continue to monitor the international situation in respect of the Circum-Raynor War and the micronations involving themselves in it. Although it gives me no pleasure to say so, it may be that some future development will cause us to review our own alliances and treaties, in favour of those nations which share our vision of good micronational conduct.
With regards to Your Majesty,
John P Darcy

Republic of Anthelia
