The term 'liberal' refers to a different aspect of the philosophy of their liberals... for us, liberals were so named due to liberalistic economic policy. Theirs may be different.

Perhaps a holdover from the 18th century classical liberalism, that had more in common with the American conservatism of today. It was big on laissez-faire and small governments.

Republicans don't steal because they don't interfere. I believe in socialistic type interference. EG, maximum wages that vary based on the company's lowest paid employee. Government owned businesses allowed, but not the only ones. Yanno, reasonable stuff.
