I think that more brainpower together WILL benefit the nations, and really I thought of the idea of a new GC-like nation well before this crap arose, it was simply a way to make protection easier.

Not necessarily. We've had plenty of instances with random attacks with no-one claiming responsibility or in fact being caught. In such situations it is useful to have someone who takes a backup of fora every now and then, someone who maintains security. Saying "it doesn't happen anymore" might be nice, but it has happened in the past, and will happen again. Take the EzPlague earlier this year. I don't know if php can suffer from such equivalent gross incompotence, but it's entirely possible.
Of course, the main "conflicts" in micronational terms are property conflicts. Perhaps a "military" per se isn't needed for this sort of thing, but if there was ever a true micronational military in the sense of property rights, then a fully-manned judiciary is it. Fighting lawyers, Barrister Generals and so forth. Twould be interesting if nothing else.
